Each person has a competition held within their heart. There are two warring voices, MINE and the world, a battle between the flesh and the spirit. Will you abide in your carnal nature or the nurture of God’s anointing?
Moses was a deliverer, but easily angered. David was a man after God’s heart, but a whoremonger. Jacob was a matriarch of a Holy Nation, but a manipulator. Gideon was a mighty warrior, but saw himself as unworthy.
Like the belly of Rebekah, inside you are two separate worlds and two separate legacies standing in opposition to one another. One that bears the promise and the other bearing the cares of this world.
The confusion is between your origin versus your beginning. You originated with ME, but you began in your mother’s womb. This is the dilemma of the human heart, to be born of the flesh, but to operate in the spirit.
Genesis 25:23-26
And the LORD told her, “The sons in your womb will become two nations. From the very beginning, the two nations will be rivals. One nation will be stronger than the other; and your older son will serve your younger son.” And when the time came to give birth, Rebekah discovered that she did indeed have twins! The first one was very red at birth and covered with thick hair like a fur coat. So they named him Esau. Then the other twin was born with his hand grasping Esau’s heel. So they named him Jacob.
