Forgiveness is your due benevolence as a believer. When you can look past an offense, this can be the best and most authentic witness for ME. To love in the place of fear, to pray for those who despitefully use you.
Forgiving is not forgetting, it is refusing to allow the pain to become perpetual. It is releasing your right to retaliate. It is an active mandate of your will to empathize on another’s behalf.
Forgiveness is the key component of repentance. The forgiveness that you receive is in direct proportion to the forgiveness that you give. The clemency that you bestowed on others is accounted for, then drawn on, when it is you standing in the way of judgment.
Embrace forgiveness, because it is the essence of Christ and the purpose for the cross. The Lamb of God was the ultimate sacrifice and atonement for sin, the concluding Passover for mankind. Forgiveness is essential to salvation.
