What is acceptable for others, can in fact, be a challenge for you. There is a safety in numbers, that can be dangerous for a mind, not fully made up. The opinion of friends and family is a comfort, until it controls you.
A complete conviction in your identity is a liberating trait. A whole minded individual can make the right decisions, even when it is not popular. The tribe and the clan are important to honor and respect, but your mind is divine.
The space between your ears is sacred, a Holy of Holy places, keep it safe and clear at all times. Clean it up after the messy things of life rush in. Leave no residues behind, whatever remains will fester.
This is your heart and the soul of who you are. The chaos that attacks all men is defeated on this battlefield. The soul is the mediator between your flesh man and your spirit man, the real you. The command of your true identity is conquered here.

All things are legitimate (permissible and we are free to do anything we please), but not all things are helpful (expedient, profitable, and wholesome). All things are legitimate, but not all things are constructive (to character) and edifying (to spiritual life).
