What they said and what they did, hurt you, but the pain has lived past its purpose and has become a parasite. The ill will has expired and the perpetual infringement is all in your head.
The misunderstanding and the offense may have began small, but holding on to the hurtful thing has caused it to grow and that illusion has taken on a life of its own. It is your imagination working against you.
Anger is a part of living and it cannot be avoided, but it must be address quickly. When anger, disappointments or offenses fester the mind is polluted and the heart is weighed down.
Acknowledge the anger and the way you feel, but do not allow it to become a stumbling block or an obstacle to the relationships you hold dear. Operating in offense has a price that is too costly.
Philippians 4:8-9
Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.
