The pain works like a plow it is a modifier, a qualifier and a revealer. It digs up motives and removes the stones of ego, pride and anger. It then replaces them with the nutrients of gentleness, empathy and hearts of flesh.
Is the soil of your heart, too wet or too dry? There are those, that have been hurt time after time and now have a victim’s mindset. This ground is too wet for sowing and all that is planted is washed away, in a flood of emotion.
Then there are those, that refuse to acknowledge the pain. This ground is too dry, it will not receive softening or seed. The trauma of the past is too much and though the pain is no more, the soil cannot accept the seed and so goes the harvest.
Ezekiel 11:19-20
And I will give them singleness of heart and put a new spirit within them. I will take away their stony, stubborn heart and give them a tender, responsive heart. Then they will follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws. They will be my people, and I will be their God.
