#756 – Are you in a Hole?

The art of diplomacy is a delicate dance of balance between wants, needs and feelings. An opportunity, a relationship or an assignment can be missed based simply on not being aware. Anger, a slip of the tongue or carelessness can lead to being trapped in a hole. There are three holes that come to mind, Rabbit Holes, Fox Holes & Gopher Holes.

A Rabbit hole, represents foolishness. An entry into the unknown, based on being gullible. A rabbit hole is a conversation or a decision that places, your goals in harms way, based on unsure information.

A good example is when you are talking and do not have a true knowledge of the topic. You are allowing yourself to be pulled in a direction, that is not understood.

If you keep talking it is going to ruin your credibility. Another example would be the opposite, when you know your craft and another person is questioning your expertise. The desire to prove them wrong, may take over you.

– A Foxhole represents a fight. A defensive position used in war or military exercise. A foxhole can be an argument or disagreement that can escalate.

This is when you have been caught off guard and are now on your heels. Have you noticed, it is very difficult to disprove a negative.

Once a person is determined that you are (insert bad word). It is extremely difficult to offset their disbelieve, my recommendation is do not try, do not waste an ounce of energy trying to prove or disapprove someone.

Why, because it is a distraction and designed to get you angry, to get you emotional and to take off the task at hand.

– A Gopher Hole represents an innocent, but an unsuspecting pitfall. A trip hazard, that leads to ankle, knee and leg injuries. Gopher holes by nature are unexpected and can affect people or property, alike.

These are the inconvenient things, that come at the worst times and they usually lead to severe costs or some sort of major delay. It is important that you are alert and aware, then act accordingly.

Proverbs 2:1-13
My son, if you accept my words and hide my commandments within you, if you incline your ear to wisdom and direct your heart to understanding, if you truly call out to insight and lift your voice to understanding, if you seek it like silver and search it out like hidden treasure, then you will discern the fear of the LORD and discover the knowledge of God. For the LORD gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding. He stores up sound wisdom for the upright; He is a shield to those who walk with integrity, to guard the paths of justice and protect the way of His saints. Then you will discern righteousness and justice and equity—every good path. For wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will delight your soul. Discretion will watch over you, and understanding will guard you, to deliver you from the way of evil, from the man who speaks perversity, from those who leave the straight paths to walk in the ways of darkness.
